This guide has been produced to help trustees of UK-based international NGOs take action on safeguarding. It has been designed to be relevant for all organisations regardless of size and whether or not they are directly involved in programme delivery. The document is divided into six main sections:
1. Establishing  a culture that makes staff feel comfortable and supported to raise concerns
2. Assessing and reducing safeguarding risks
3. Putting in place the right policies and encouraging speaking up
4. Appropriately investigating issues that are raised
5. Strengthening policies to support survivors
6. Recommended action to strengthen accountability in relation to safeguarding.
