This guidance is intended to assist the humanitarian mine action sector in strengthening efforts related to protection from sexual exploitation and abuse. The guidance is based on the content of international agreements, lessons learned from previous studies, and findings from an assessment with the main stakeholders involved in humanitarian mine action in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lebanon and Ukraine, including best practices shared by organizations in the sector. The document includes basic definitions, update of PSEA policy, mechanism for reporting of complaints, immediate action that must be taken in case of complaints, mechanism of investigation into SEA cases, as well as preventive measures and monitoring and evaluation processes.
