The UN resolution to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls with focus on sexual harassment reaffirms international obligations and recognises and emphasises several important areas including that violence against women and girls, including sexual harassment, is rooted in historical and structural inequality in power relations. It emphasises the need to change social norms that condone violence against women and girls in the workplace, and to address barriers to reporting or acting as witnesses. Furthermore, it highlights that lack or inadequate documentation, research and data on sexual harassment impede efforts to design and implement measures to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence, and that laws addressing violence against women and girls, including sexual harassment, are often limited in scope. The resolution also details specific calls for action by States.
