This 20-page guide focuses on disability-inclusive safeguarding in programmes and activities in the humanitarian and development sector. Disability-inclusive safeguarding practices can help better safeguard everyone; it is in the interest of all organisations to consider this guide in their safeguarding work.

This guide is split into three sections:

  1. Definitions of different disabilities: physical disabilities, hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities, mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities, and visual impairments
  2. Risks of harm, including sexual exploitation and abuse, that persons with disabilities face in programmes
  3. Managing the risks identified and how to make your safeguarding measures disability-inclusive.
