Title of the document

This report is prepared for submission to the Universal Periodic Review of the human rights situation in Ethiopia to the Human Rights Council 33rd Session (April/May 2019). The report is based on secondary data and ECPAT’s work experience in country. The report presents narrative of the situation of sexual exploitation of children, the legal system and the risk factors. 

The report’s key areas of focus are the situation of girls engaged in commercial sex work and the lack of government initiative to either keep data or enforce the law on sexual relation with minors. The report contains numerous reference materials and recommendation for the Government of Ethiopia, that can also be good recommendations for designing interventions in collaboration with the GoE.
