A guideline has been produced to strengthen and safeguard policies against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment of persons with disabilities.

The project was carried out by the Resource and Support Hub in collaboration with the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria, supported by the United Kingdom Agency for International Development (UKAID).

At the occasion in Abuja, the Senior Adviser of the Nigeria Research and Support Hub Mrs. Eleanor Nwadinobi said the research would go a long way to ensure People with Disabilities understand practical application of disability inclusion in safeguarding practices

According to her “The research titled 'How organisations of persons with disabilities are keeping people safe' said the content speaks of ways to safeguard realities of the different clusters of people living with disabilities and it is also a valuable resource for all development and humanitarian practitioners.”

In a goodwill message, the president, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Abdullahi Usman who appreciated all stakeholders supporting the association said it would always collaborate with partners willing to assist them.

In their separate remarks, the representative of Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Jumal Edoteche and the Representative of the Foreign Commonwealth and Developmental Office Mr. David Ukagwu stressed the need to ensure persons with disabilities were carried along in the policies that concerns them.
