I am a Sociologist pursuing a PhD and currently researching community based mechanisms to prevent sexual violence against children in Tanzania. I am a skilled practitioner, trainer and researcher with over 14 years’ experience in human rights and international development and humanitarian context with a focus on child protection, safeguarding and gender.
I started a Safeguarding Journey as a consultant in 2006. I have delivered a number of consultancies in the area of trainings, safeguarding audit, safeguarding Policy and Procedure development, mentorship and coaching. I have also worked in development and humanitarian contexts and consulted with ChildHope UK, Keeping Children Safe Coalition (KCS) UK, Royal National Lifeboat Institute UK, African Initiatives UK, Livingstone Tanzania Trust UK and Abilis Foundation Finland. I have worked in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan with local and International Organisations. I have also delivered a speech on safeguarding at the Bond Conference in the UK in 2018.
I am also an experienced trainer and facilitator of Human Rights Education. I have delivered Human Rights Education Trainings with participants from 50 countries of Africa, America and Asia through International Human Rights Education Programme (IHRTP) in Montreal, Canada organised by Equitas, International Centre on Human Rights. I am also a trainer of Human Rights Education through East African Human Rights Programme (EAHRP) which is managed by Equitas, Canada attracting participants from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda and South Sudan.
