This role will support the implementation of MAG’s safeguarding framework, and best practice across MAG Iraq and other programmes in the Middle East portfolio as required, ensuring that MAG staff are supported and the programme is not just compliant, but exceeding our safeguarding standards. The post holder will work with the Country Director, and the Programme’s Senior Management Team, Managers, Team Leaders, and the HR Team (as well as the Safeguarding Team at HQ). They will focus on strengthening a safe culture and environment, promoting safeguarding awareness, providing staff/survivor support and ensuring that across the programme, staff are encouraged and feel empowered to report. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing safeguarding policies and procedures, and conducting training sessions to raise awareness. They will also provide advice to managers when safeguarding issues are raised and support partner organizations with due-diligence when required. The post holder will also ensure that reporting mechanisms are established, managed and strengthened. 

The base location for this position will be Erbil, with regular travel throughout the region.
