Child-friendly complaint and response mechanism in Bangladesh

The webinar unpacked the essential factors to consider when establishing and managing a child-friendly complaint and response mechanism and the key components of an effective reporting pathway. The session also covered key ways of building an inclusive child-friendly response mechanism in a way that is safe and protects children from harm and abuse. It explored social, cultural and operational barriers and challenges related to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) reporting and provide recommendations and suggestions for improvement.

• Md. Quddrutullah Jahangir – Head of Safeguarding, Save the Children in Bangladesh

Md. Quddrutullah Jahangir is the Head of Safeguarding at Save the Children in Bangladesh with more than a decade of experience in safeguarding and a strong focus on strategic and technical areas. Specialising in safeguarding system building, policy development and awareness raising programs, he uses that experience for building a safer organisation for children and adults in need. Under his leadership Save the Children Bangladesh has been identified as a Country of Safeguarding Excellence.

• Niger Sultana Nipa – Assistant Director and Safeguarding Focal Point, Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK), Bangladesh

Having 24 years of experience working in the development sector, Niger Sultana Nipa is the Gender and Safeguarding Focal Person at Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK). Her key expertise lies in developing gender- and safeguarding-related policy, module, tools, and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials. She also brings professional expertise in working with children and young people of different ages and communities.

Shahnaz Rahman has been working for the last 17 years on safeguarding, protection programming in development and humanitarian agencies. She has expertise on gender and child protection, with specific focus on organisational culture and system transformation. Capacity building, programme design and management are the key areas of her know-how.
